A small tool for repeatable runs
Rail Speed Log is a free browser calculator for model railway hobbyists. It keeps the measurements behind a scale-speed result so you can compare repeated runs without copying each answer into a separate worksheet.
No account or extra hardware is needed. You provide the measured distance, model scale and elapsed time. The tool does not connect to a railway controller, sense a passing train or change decoder settings.
Method and limitations
The calculation uses distance divided by time, multiplied by the scale denominator. See the measuring guide for the derivation and primary references. The arithmetic is only as useful as the measurements you enter; manual timing and changing track conditions can affect results.
